Four Divisions, Two Campuses, One Community

HKIS's two campuses are situated on the south of Hong Kong Island. The Repulse Bay campus houses the Lower and Upper Primary Schools. The Tai Tam campus houses the Middle and High Schools. Together we form one school community.

More than Just Buildings
Master Facilities Plan

School facilities are an integral part of the learning experience at HKIS. That's why HKIS continually upgrades spaces to enhance teaching. The HKIS Master Facilities Plan (MFP) began more than 15 years ago in 2006 and included the redevelopment of our Repulse Bay campus. With a completely new Lower Primary and a fully renovated and expanded Upper Primary, which is our original building from the 1960s, this phase of the plan was completed in 2018. We are now entering an exciting phase of development - the Tai Tam campus.

A New Lower Primary Building

Completed in 2017, our Lower Primary Building is built for our youngest learners to explore their world in a stimulating environment. This facility provides the most up-to-date environment to meet the needs of our youngest learners, focusing on inquiry, community, and play.

Upper Primary Redevelopment

HKIS's oldest building, our current Upper Primary School (Grades 3-5), opened in 1967 as a K-12 school. Following a renovation, it reopened to students in August 2018. The upgrade ensures that today and tomorrow’s young learners will have a space to best enhance their learning.

For the Future

With our primary schools complete, HKIS is developing two sites adjacent to the Tai Tam campus. The first is home to a Student Activity Center ("Site A"), and the second is in development ("Site B"). Site A will house all of our Middle and High School athletics programs, opening up space in the current Middle and High School to develop an arts wing.

Student Activity Center opening in 2024!

Our newest development is a Student Activity Center that will bring our health and wellbeing program to life. This multi-story center will house sporting facilities and massive multi-purpose rooms for improving physical and mental health. With tennis courts on the roof, a 3-story indoor climbing wall and innovative fitness studios, the Student Activity Center is much more than ‘just a gym’!

Ripple Effect

Moving the athletics program to the Student Activity Center opens up space to construct a dedicated Performing Arts Center. With a 1,000-seat performance hall, a Tai Tam Chinese Culture Center, a New Media Center, and a vast Visual Arts, Design and Technology space are just a few highlights that underpin the next steps of the Master Facilities Plan.
